Living Book Event Carlisle Library March 30th. 2.00pm-6.00pm
The Living Book idea emerged in Denmark in 2000 and has won praise as a way of bringing people from different backgrounds together to gain new perspectives on life.

Quite simply, instead of borrowing a book, you borrow a person - otherwise known as a 'living book'.

Living Books come from a wide range of different backgrounds and cultures, and you can sit and listen to their stories in small groups, or one-to-one, with the opportunity to ask questions.

Your session with a living book will take place on March 30th and will last up to 20 minutes. You can choose your book by browsing a catalogue, which summarises the stories. Once you have chosen your living book, you book an appointment either by going to the Enquiry Desk at Carlisle Library or by phoning 01228 227310. You can make as many appointments with as many different books as you wish.

Cumbria Libraries are staging this ground breaking event in conjunction with the public sector union UNISON and Time to Read, the North West Reader Development network which works to attract more people into libraries. ...
