| Cumbria Libraries are committed to making libraries and information accessible to everyone. There are concessions on some charges for those who are disabled plus free access to computers. Ask at your local library for details or click on the link on the left of this page. Our access collections range from traditional large print books to the latest technologies in portable digital audiobooks and audio described DVDs.
Do you have difficulty reading print? Carlisle, Whitehaven and Brampton Libraries have reading machines. All libraries in Cumbria have books in large print and on cassette, and titles are also available on CD. Larger branches also stock 'Playaways', portable audiobooks you can take anywhere. You can search for talking books using the quick search on this page, just change the drop down menu from 'Everything' to 'Talking books'.
Do you have difficulty hearing? All our libraries have Induction Loops.
Do you have mobility problems?
Most of our libraries have step free access. Several libraries have accessible meeting rooms and toilet facilities. All mobile libraries have step lifts.
